BOYS
Boys (1st - 12th grade) are required in matters of dress to do “all things decently and in order” (I Cor. 14:40). These rules replace numbers 6 and 7 of the codes outlined in the school handbook. All other points stand as written.
Elementary Boys may wear jeans or dress pants made to fit properly. Carpenter jeans are allowed in elementary as long as they are not baggy. Cargo, baggy, loose fit, or low-rise jeans are not allowed.
Elementary boys are not required to wear a collared shirt, however, they must wear their shirt tucked in and a belt at all times.
Junior High and High School Boys may order clothing from Land’s End (school code 900113648) or adhere to the following provisions: Regular dress pants (like the ones approved on the Lands’ End website) or jeans, made to fit properly are acceptable. Levi’s 501 Original and Wrangler Regular or Relaxed Fit Jeans are the only approved jeans. (No loose fit, baggy jeans, carpenter, cargo, or low-rise jeans, etc.) Boys that are enrolled in P.E. may wear athletic pants during P.E. only.
Pants must always be worn on the waist. No sagging, baggy, or droopy pants will be tolerated. The waist size on the pants may not be more than one size above what the student normally wears.
Pants must be worn with a belt.
Pants should be the proper length - they must not pile up on the shoes. Pants may not be torn, ragged, or colorfully patched. Clothing should be neat and in good repair.
Only shirts with a collar will be allowed for boys (in grades 7 - 12 only, not in grades 1 - 6). All shirts must be tucked in at all times, except at P.E. Only the top button of any shirt may be unbuttoned. The only exception will be sweaters, which must have a “waist band” at the bottom and must not go below the pocket opening. No “hoodies” or “sweatshirts” will be allowed.
Boys shirts must have sleeves and may not have any pictures, words, or insignia that is not in keeping with Christian principles (I.e., rock groups, occultic pictures, beer advertisements, etc.).
Shoes and socks must be worn at all times, and shoestrings must be tied.
Boys may not wear earrings, spikes, chains, necklaces, bracelets, etc.
Boys may wear normal-looking hats. Hats must be worn properly (The bill of ball caps may not be worn to the back or the side. All hats must be worn outside the building and may not have logos not in keeping with our requirements.)
Boys’ hair must not touch the collar and must be tapered in the back. It must not touch the ears and must be tapered above them. Bangs may not hang into the eyes, but must be at least one finger width above the eyebrows. No block, bowl, surfer, rat tails, or faddish hairstyles are allowed. Bleaching or coloring of boys’ hair is not permitted. Boys who need a haircut will be notified and asked to have it cut by a certain date (usually the next day). If it is not corrected, the student may be sent home until it is. GIRLS
Girls (1st - 12th grade) are required to adorn themselves in modest apparel (I Tim. 2:9). Modest, loose-fitting dresses, skirts, and jumpers are preferred.
Dresses or skirts with blouses or sweaters are the only acceptable classroom attire.
For elementary grades (1 - 6), skirts or dresses may not rise above mid-knee while sitting, walking, or standing. Elementary girls are not required to wear a collared shirt.
There are 2 skirt options available for Junior High and High school girls. Hannah Lise (enter our school name), or buy a regular denim skirt (full-cut or “A”-line) from any other source as long as it contains no spandex, has no slits, and completely covers the knee whether sitting, standing, walking, etc. If you order from Lands’ End or Hannah Lise, the approved list of clothing is at the bottom of this page.
Dresses and skirts must be worn with a slip.
All skirts must be worn on the waist, whether the shirt or blouse is tucked in or not.
Shirts/Sweaters may only be purchased in our school store. Shirts must fit appropriately and not be too tight. Shirts should never cling around the chest or fit snugly on the rib cage and abdomen.
Formal dresses worn on special school occasions must conform to the dress code. Formal dresses for the Junior-Senior Banquet must conform to the special dress code for that event and must be seen and approved by the office. Please see the office before purchasing any formal attire.
No clothing may have pictures, words, or insignia that are not in keeping with Christian principles (i.e., rock groups, occultic practices, beer advertisements, etc.).
Hats, caps, gloves, and sunglasses may not be worn inside the classroom.
Makeup may be worn in moderation in grades 7 - 12 only. Extreme colors (i.e. eye shadows, nail polish, etc.) and “goth” looks are forbidden.
Girls are not to wear rat-tails, “punk”, or other faddish hairstyles. Multi-color and unnatural hair colors are not allowed. Girls’ hairstyles should be well-groomed and feminine.
Only one pair of matching earrings may be worn, and they must be worn in the lower lobe only. Any student who opts to pierce her ears anywhere besides the lobe during the school year will not be allowed to wear studs of any kind “while the ear heals.”
ANYTHING THE ADMINISTRATION CONSIDERS TO BE EXTREME IN HAIRSTYLES, CLOTHING, OR GENERAL APPEARANCE FOR BOYS AND GIRLS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
If your child arrives at school dressed inappropriately you will have the option of picking your child up and bringing him/her back dressed in accordance with the dress code, or allowing him/her to be provided clothing from our school store. If we provide clothing for your child, your account will be invoiced. Please make sure your child arrives at school dressed according to our dress code.
